Chapter 1:
Betrayed by his colleagues at the Chicago Police Department, Peter Thurston abandoned the city life to return to his country town of Midlake, Minnesota.
A spree of homicides shatters his fresh start and his painful memories are replaced by haunting images of twisted corpses.
Vowing to restore the serenity of his hometown, Peter hunts down the killer. But as he gets closer to danger, Peter begins to rely more and more on a part of himself he’s been trying to hide – an inexplicable and seemingly impossible transformation!
